New Milton
Music Festival

Important Notice

With the greatest regret we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the New Milton Music Festival and Gala Concert this weekend. We have reviewed the volunteer staffing levels, many of whom are in an at-risk health category, and concluded today that we can’t run the festival safely and in the manner that you would expect. We are also mindful of our responsibility not to exacerbate any risk of transmission of COVID-19 so would have been encouraging any performers or supporters in an at risk category not to attend. From the communications received this number has increased over the last two days.

We realise this is a huge disappointment to those who have put in hours of practice and preparation, and for all of those looking forward to a celebration of the last 20 years of music making in the festival’s name.

The Committee will review if there is any possibility to find a revised date and will advise in due course. Otherwise we will re-run the festival next year. Please bear with us as we review the best way of refunding entry fees. This will take a while to sort out.

Saturday 14th March at The Arnewood School

Compositions to be submitted on CD or mp3 file, with or without a score, by the closing date 31st January. Compositions will be judged before the festival and an adjudication given on the day. Adjudicator - Alison Hedger

After graduating from the Royal College of Music Alison spent her career making music with, and writing music for children of all ages. Alison founded the Golden Apple music imprint (now part of the Music Sales Group of Companies) and continues to write music for her own use and as commissions. Alison’s music is internationally known and is widely published and enjoys regular performances both here and abroad. Although retired from publishing and editing music, Alison continues to maintain a close link with current Primary education as a Foundation School Governor. Alison writes music not only for schools, but also for churches and has written many interdenominational all-age worship songs.

Alison’s enthusiasm, knowledge of the power of music as an educational tool, her sense of fun and love of children all combine to make her music accessible to all, and a pleasure to perform. 2020 sees the performance of new music to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the New Milton Music Festival: Jigsaw of Variations on the theme “It’s Our Anniversary”.
