The History of New Milton Music Festival

The first New Milton Music Festival took place in 2001 – and is now an annual event in March. The Festival is organised by a Group of volunteers, with the full involvement of local music teachers. The New Forest Rotary Club and the New Milton Rotary and Lions Clubs offer additional support. Numerous local businesses and individuals support the Festival by offering sponsorship and awards.

The Festival attracts musicians and singers of all ages and abilities – and showcases the variety and calibre of the musical talent in the local area. All classes are adjudicated – offering all participants guidance and encouragement from experts in their field. Graded certificates are awarded to participants – with many receiving a trophy or music token upon winning their classes.

2010 saw the addition of the annual Piano Festival which has now merged with The New Milton Music Festival. The Festival also incorporated Piano Accordion classes for the first time in 2010.

A Gala Concert is organised at the end of the Festival – with the performers being selected from the winners of the Festival classes. This Gala Concert is always well attended – and is a wonderful end to each Festival.
